About the Author 

Leon Diop IS a mixed-race man from Tallaght, Dublin, Ireland. Born to an Irish mother and a Senegalese father, he grew up in a mixed ethnic and religious household. He is the founder of Black and Irish, an organisation striving to transform Ireland into a global leader in equality and inclusion. He is a host of the Black and Irish podcast with Irish national broad caster, RTÉ. He was an Obama Foundation European Leader 2024-2025. His first book, Black & Irish: Legends, Trailblazers and Everyday Heroes, co-authored with Briana Fitzsimons and published by Little Island in collaboration with Black & Irish, won the 2023 An Post Irish Book Awards Teen & YA Book of the Year. His next book will be a junior version for younger readers. titled Black & Irish: Awesome Icons
